The Legend of Snow Pookas
By Scott E. Sutton
At the Northern tip of the Planet Ree, there is a frigid land, covered in ice and snow. According to legend, the three-legged Pookas thrive in the freezing temperatures. The adventures of Dundee the Wizard, and his assistant, Jeeter, the Erf, continue in this installment of the Family of Ree series by Scott E. Sutton. As with the other books in the Ree collection, The Legend of the Snow Pookas not only engages young readers with vibrant illustrations and rhyming text, it imparts common sense values to children. By discovering the truth about Snow Pookas that they spend their icy days caring for the gigantic Talking Trees of Northern Ree Jeeter learns the importance of respecting and helping others.
"That's the way it is all over Ree.
We take care of the young ones, you see?
And respect and help the old ones, too.
These two things are important to do."
Jeeter and Dundee head back home, but not before befriending the legendary Pookas and their Northern Ree Wizard, Blizzard.
"Said Jeeter and BeeBee with smiles on their faces.
'We'd both rather live in much warmer places!'
Dundee laughed hard. He had to agree,
'Snow's good for Snow Pookas, but too cold for me!"
