From the Introduction:

"When my oldest daughter Dhyana turned 30 years old, I asked her what she would like for her birthday. She answered, “Dad you really need to write up your hat (how one performs a specific task or job) as a parent, so many people just don’t know what to do or how to handle their children.” This book is in response to her request.
OK, I know what many of you may be thinking, “Not another book telling me how I should be a better parent.” Well please be assured this is not a how to book on how you should parent, there are enough of those, and even some very good ones. It is intended as a legacy, passing down to my children, and others who care to read it, my observations about parenting. I don’t claim to have the answers to your situations, I can only tell you what I have observed, and perhaps that may be relevant and appropriate to your family.

"Look into your child and you shall see your reflection.”
--Ann Arthur from How to Grow a Child

"I truthfully believe I have the three best children on planet earth (and I hope you disagree, insisting yours are the very best). Dhyana is 32, Kali 28, and Maari 23. In the first book I ever had published, How To Grow A Child: A Child’s Advice To Parents, (a book based on the idea of Ann Arthur who was in my fourth grade class) Ann wrote, “Look into your child and you shall see your reflection.” I am very proud of the reflections I see, and I hope this is very true for you as well."

Readers praise "Moments of Astonishment"

"I love the book. Great concept, very lovingly written. --Richard

"The thing I love, love about it is how real it is. I could relate to the different experiences and although some things were similar to my own I took with me other ideas I had not thought of. I love that. The helpful hints for a single parent are great--my husband went through similar situations when I was away for 6 months!

"I think that the book will be helpful because it allows you to think of how else you could apply a these basic principles of parenting. It also made me think about times when I have had similar situations and how I handled them: could I have handled it better, quicker, with a better outcome?" --Connie

"Reading Bernard Percy's joyful, insightful stories about his relationship with his beautiful children gave me a better viewpoint about parenting and helped me to realize how wonderful the experience can be." --Susan

A positive parenting endorsement from Bernard Percy's daughters:

“My experience with my dad has been nothing but great my entire life. I often heard
of other’s “problems” with their parents. This was never the case at our house.”—Kali Percy

“How do I love my father? Let me count the ways!”—Dhyana Percy Ofman

“Growing up as a Percy child, I have always been met with looks of awe and jealosy from my friends as I told them of my latest freedom and adventures. Following their awe-struck stares the words that left their mouths were almost always, “I wish my dad would let me do that!” I would smile and think: How lucky I am to have my dad.”—Maari Percy
